Instead of the usual fixed port configuration of most high-end security appliances, the modularity of the Cisco FirePOWER 8000 Series Appliances lets you to choose the number and type of interfaces appropriate for your network. Various network modules (NetMods) are inserted into the Cisco FirePOWER 8000 Series Appliances to customize the interface configuration to match your network requirements. NetMods can either be “non-bypass” (useful in passive or fail-closed deployments) or “integrated fail-open/bypass” (useful in inline deployments).
